Grow some Of Your Own Food If You Have Time/Space
Growing some of your own food is something I encourage, but you still need to know about soil health and soil nutrients to do this properly. Not many of us have this knowledge, or have the time and space to grow organic vegetables.
I am living proof that the right quantity and balance of nutrients in the soil can make a life changing difference to our health. If the nutrients are not in the soil then they will not be in the food. For most of my adult life I have been on a quest to find the answers to my many health problems and I have spent $1000`s trying to work out how to boost my immune system. My health problems included the following:
I had a very Poor immune system :
- Colds and flu 4 times a year
- Tonsilitis, bronchitis up to 5 times per year
- Poly cystic ovary syndrome, irregular cycle, fibroids,
- Pre cancer cells cervix
- Chronic insomnia since childhood
- Overweight around 20kg
- Irritable Bowel syndrome
- Lactose Intolerant
- Gluten Intolerant
I did not realise it at the time but I was a victim of malnourishment due to a system of food production that focused on profits, shelf life and appearance rather than nutritional value.
I thought my diet was healthy - I ate plenty of veggies but the moment I changed to a plant based diet and ate food that I had grown myself my health started to soar and all of my problems went away. I would make sure I had enough of the the right minerals in the vegetable garden and a favourable soil PH so the plants could uptake the minerals. I used volcanic rock dust for all of the minerals and planted the most nutrient dense vegetables which were picked and eaten fresh.
By growing much of my own food, eating home made fermented veggies, drinking water kefir I finally found my way to good health and managed to shed the extra kilos I was carrying. The more plant based I became, the healthier and stronger I became. My body went from dragging myself through the day to a bright, shiny healthy new me. I now know that all of your body regenerates every year except for your brain, heart and kidneys. You can gradually replace weak unhealthy cells with strong fully functioning cells that are disease resistant simply by getting enough of the right natural nutrients. I knew my discovery could benefit others in their quest for optimum health so I started to teach & blog about growing your vegetables, sprouting, micro greens and cooking for nutrition from our property at Piccadilly and with WEA (adult education).
We have since moved to a smaller property and cannot grow our own food and it has become very clear to me that we all need to take natural nutrient rich dietary supplements made from the right plants that we can not otherwise get through our food. Australians are very deficient in many vital nutrients and it is making us sick. We desperately need MORE nutrient absorption daily to prevent disease and heal our bodies.
There is a dramatic decline in our health with each new generation. We have become toxic and deficient. We should be able to reach old age without ill health like other healthy animals in their pristine natural environment.
Modern food is very deficient of many vital nutrients including magnesium and selenium and our diets are low in iodine. This lack of nutrition if contributing to sickness and disease.
